Hello everyone,
I’m thrilled to unveil my latest collection, "No Sleep Till," which brings the majestic presence of lions to the vibrant streets of Brooklyn. This series captures the raw power and regal nature of these magnificent creatures set against the eclectic, urban backdrop of one of New York City's most iconic boroughs.
The title "No Sleep Till" is inspired by the famous Beastie Boys song, reflecting the unrelenting energy and spirit of Brooklyn. In this collection, I sought to merge this dynamic vibe with the timeless strength and nobility of lions. Each portrait juxtaposes the wild majesty of lions with Brooklyn’s urban elements, from the graffiti-adorned walls of Bushwick to the historic brownstones of Park Slope.
Capturing these lions in black and white allowed me to focus on the intricate details and contrasts, highlighting the textures of their manes against the gritty cityscape. The stark monochrome palette adds a dramatic effect, emphasizing the lions' commanding presence and the unique character of Brooklyn's streets.
"No Sleep Till" is more than an artistic endeavor; it’s a call to recognize the beauty and significance of wildlife, even in the heart of our urban jungles. By placing lions in an urban setting, I aim to draw attention to the plight of these incredible animals in the wild and spark a conversation about conservation efforts.
I invite you to explore the "No Sleep Till" collection and experience the captivating blend of wild power and urban culture. Let these portraits remind us of the resilience of nature and the importance of preserving it, no matter where we are.
Thank you for your support and for joining me on this artistic journey.
Warm regards,
Mathieu Cabot
