Introducing the GIANT Tokyo Series: Elephants in the Urban Landscape

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to share my latest project with you—"GIANT Tokyo." This unique series features solo portraits of elephants set against the bustling backdrop of Tokyo, merging the grandeur of these majestic creatures with the vibrant energy of one of the world's most dynamic cities.

The inspiration for this series came from a desire to juxtapose the natural grace and strength of elephants with the sleek, modern architecture of Tokyo. Elephants symbolize wisdom and tranquility, qualities that stand in stark contrast to the fast-paced, ever-evolving urban environment. Through these portraits, I aim to highlight the beauty and resilience of elephants while encouraging viewers to reflect on the delicate balance between nature and urbanization.

Each photograph in the GIANT Tokyo series captures an elephant in various iconic Tokyo settings—from the neon-lit streets of Shibuya to the serene temples of Asakusa. The black and white palette adds a timeless quality to the images, emphasizing the striking contrast between the organic forms of the elephants and the geometric lines of the cityscape.

This series is not just about creating visually stunning art; it’s also a call to action for wildlife conservation. By placing these gentle giants in an urban context, I hope to raise awareness about the challenges they face in the wild and inspire efforts to protect their habitats.

I invite you to explore the GIANT Tokyo series and join me in celebrating the majestic presence of elephants amidst the urban hustle. Let these portraits remind us of the importance of preserving the natural world, even as we continue to build and expand our cities.

As always, thank you for your support and for being part of this artistic journey.

Warm regards,

Mathieu Cabot
